Al menos 80 muertos en el barrio de Gaza bombardeado por Israel
Según los médicos, el bombardeo israelí en el barrio de Shejaiya, en Gaza, ya ha provocado 80 muertos y 400 heridos.
Al menos 80 personas han muerto y 400 resultaron heridas en los bombardeos israelíes este domingo en el barrio de Shejaiya , al este de Gaza capital, informó el Ministerio de Sanidad de la Franja, que calificó la acción de «auténtica masacre de civiles», informa ‘The Daily Star‘. Según el ministerio, entre las víctimas hay 17 niños.
«Hasta el momento se han encontrado los cadáveres de 40 mártires. Los médicos están buscando más posibles víctimas», anunció Naser Tattar, el director del hospital Shifa de Gaza. El gran número de víctimas de un solo ataque que ha producido la acción en el barrio de Shejaiya parecen ser el suceso más grave desde que Israel lanzó su ofensiva en el territorio palestino el 8 de julio. Desde el inicio de la operación ya han muerto más de 350 palestinos.
Al mismo tiempo el Ejército israelí ha anunciado la ampliación del número de soldados que participan en la operación en la Franja de Gaza. «Para combatir más eficazmente el terrorismo y garantizar la seguridad de los ciudadanos israelíes, tropas adicionales participarán en la acción en la Franja de Gaza», reza un comunicado del Ejército.

Yesterday, international and Palestinian volunteers accompanied Civil Defence and other rescue crews, as well as family members, into Shajiya neighbourhood in Gaza. They attempted to locate survivors of overnight and ongoing shelling by the Israeli army. A young Palestinian man in a green shirt hoped to find his family. He was shot by an Israeli soldier while crossing an alley between buildings. Two additional rounds struck him as he lay injured on the ground. His dead body could not be retrieved.
The ambulance shown in the video was shelled by the Israeli military, killing paramedic Faud Jaber.
Dr Mona el-Farra of the Red Crescent Society in Gaza told ISM that, “The Israeli military is targeting medical facilities. 77% of medical facilities in Gaza have sustained damage, some of which have been completely destroyed.”
“They said we would be able to evacuate the injured from the disaster zone, but they have been shelling ambulances,” stated Dr Khalil Abu Foul of the Palestinian Red Crescent, speaking from Shajiya.

Dozens of men, women and children were killed in the early hours of Sunday as Israel indiscriminately shelled the eastern Gaza City neighborhood of Shujaiya.
Some sixty bodies have already been removed from the rubble of homes and apartment buildings, and the number of injured is more than two hundred, Palestinian health ministry spokesman Dr. Ashraf al-Qidra told local media.

But the true death toll could be even higher. The International Committee of the Red Cross said it coordinated a two-hour “humanitarian truce” to allow the rescue of the injured and the removal of bodies.

The latest massacre brings to more than 420 the number of Palestinians killed in Israel’s bombardment of Gaza, now entering its second week. More than 3,000 people have been injured and tens of thousands have fled their homes, with many seeking shelter in UN-run schools.

Gaza is a small territory, home to 1.8 million people, and no place in the territory has been safe from Israeli land, sea and air attacks. Egypt’s military dictatorship, closely allied with Israel, has kept the Rafah crossing tightly sealed.

Some journalists entered Shujaiya during the pause in the Israeli attack and tweeted images of what they saw. Others tweeted images from in or near Gaza City’s al-Shifa hospital.
